Last Wednesday’s Twins game ushered in a delicious romp of entertainment-related adventures.
Huh. Delicious romp.
Maybe I need to lay off the hyperbole for awhile.
Anyway, let’s list this thing!
- Thursday night the Waller-Mussacks had us over for a long overdue viewing of Ghost. None of us had seen it before and we were all entranced. Kind of. I fell asleep. Brigitte liked it better than Mother Dearest. Jim hated it. Mark was initially incredulous of IMDB’s classifications of this movie being a “Comedy / Drama / Fantasy / Mystery / Romance / Thriller” all at once, but was fully convinced by the end.
- Saturday Jim and I caught a little league game in Brooklyn Center. We picked the right game.
First, the umpire actually told the Orioles’ coach to replace the catcher because he wasn’t catching well enough. Seriously. This was a minor league Little League game! That means these kids were less than 10 years old! Tell me, how is a kid going to learn how to catch if you don’t let him make a mistake or two?
You’re not a coach, you’re an umpire. Know your place.
Talk about an uproar!
Second, the third base coach was asked to leave the field for being too loud and aggressive.
Yessssssssss. - Jim and I watched probably 9 episodes of Lost (Season 1) on Saturday. Ooft. Break time!
- Saw The Strangers on Saturday night. I screamed out loud, at least 3 times. Embarassing? Indeed. I NEVER WANT TO BE ALONE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.
- Watched a slew of R. Kelly music videos last night. Did you know he’s the worst lyricist ever? I didn’t know. But now I do know.
- One word: “hip-hopera.” Never again.
Entertainment winner of the week? Little League! LITTLE LEAGUE! LITTLE LEAGUE!
Haha, Little League Baseball. Amazing! You just randomly chose a game and went to it? That is spectacular.
Fun facts about Ghost courtesy of IMDb:
*Numerous actors turned down Patrick Swayze’s role (Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Kevin Bacon, Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford, and Alec Baldwin) because they didn’t think the movie would work.
*The “shadow demons” sounds were actually the sound of babies played at an extremely slow speed.
*Whoopi Goldberg was not originally pegged for her role but Patrick Swayze convinced the writers she would be good.
All I can say is thank goodness for Patrick Swayze.
Are you just beginning to watch LOST or are you re-watching the seasons? My husband and I started watching Season 1 over Thanksgiving break (2007) and caught up in time to watch Season 4. We always ended up watching them online and the Season finale for 4 was the first and only episode we’ve seen on tv. It’s way to intense to sit through commercials!
Err, make that TOO intense. I should proofread my posts.
I caught up in time for the season 3 finale last year. Jim is going through it for the first time now. I envy him a little bit – he doesn’t have to wait for half a year to catch the next new episode.
Have fun waiting, congratulations on catching up!
Mark, good facts! I now have no doubts that Patrick Swayze saved that movie…
Todd and I were telling Peter he and Bridgette should start watching Lost. I can lend him seasons one and two, but I own season three on Blu-Ray (and it looks awesome). If we get them hooked…man…I have to work that out…or they could get it from Netflix.
If they had internet at home, they could watch them all online, but alas they don’t. I’m sure if they went through your seasons 1 and 2, they’d be hooked enough to do Netflix for seasons 3 (and 4 when it comes out).
Hahahah! Me and Josh watched some of the hip-hopera, it is insane. Josh has watched the commentary and told me that during it, R. Kelly is sitting in a big puffy chair facing the TV playing his hip-hopera, and at one point he turns to face the camera, cigar in mouth, and says something along the lines of, “And the craziest thing is, that this all rhymes!”
YOU’RE KIDDING!
