When my brother and I were little, we looooved sick days. We would make frozen pizza and watch movies and tv all day long. On TV I always liked to watch Nick Jr (David the Gnome!), until it turned into Nick afternoons (Pete & Pete!)…but there were a handful of movies that we liked to watch too. They were movies that our sister had taped, and there were about six in our rotation. I’d like to highlight three of these classics:
First there was Grease 2, Tagline: “Grease is still the word!”
I’ve never been much of a fan of the original Grease, but there truly is something magical about this sequel, wouldn’t you say? It made Joey and I crave ketchup on our hamburgers and bowling. It made me want to cry in a Christmas Pageant dressed as a tree.
My sister had taped this off of tv, so a good 1/4 of the movie was cut out. I didn’t know many of the more vulgar music numbers existed until a few years ago (I have come to consider those numbers as outtakes, never to be considered legitimate parts of this masterpiece).

Then there was Mannequin, Tagline: “Some guys have all the luck!”
What can I say but that this movie is one of the best films ever made. It introduced Starship to me. In the dorms I showed this to Will and during the motorcycle scene I asked him: “Don’t you think if people were seeing this mannequin freeze in all sorts of different positions they’d stop doubting that she’s coming to life?” to which he paused and responded:
“That’s the problem you have with this movie?”
All that aside, I think this one might be perfect. The security guard with his little dog, Hollywood, ancient Egypt. It far exceeds all expectations. Flawless.

And the third movie I’d like to showcase is none other than License to Drive. Tagline: “It’s not just a license to drive, it’s a license to LIVE”
Ah, the oft forgot Corey movie. I don’t know why it’s so often neglected, as it’s probably the best one that was ever made. It even won awards (I know… )! Both Haim and Feldman won Best Male Actor in a Comedy for this film at the Young Artist Award Ceremony. Look it up.
A plateful of mashed potatoes and ketchup! According to this movie, that’s what pregnant women eat!! Maren? Lane? Melanie? Back me up here!

We also watched Ferris Beuller’s Day Off, Breakfast Club, and Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors a lot on sick days. What were YOUR sick day movies??
Ah sick day movies! I used to watch disney cartoons A LOT when I was sick. Cinderella and The Little Mermaid and Fantasia were the big ones for sick days. Ferris Bueller’s Day off! Such a classic to watch while sick (or pretending to be sick!) That’s still one of my favorite movies…
Adventures in Babysitting.
ooh, Adventures in Babysitting was GREAT!
I agree with the Adventures in Babysitting and now her brother has been sucessful in two TV shows. Congrats!!! There are many others including An American Tale. I might comment some more, but I thought it needed mentioning that there is a Corey reality show coming out…I think…where one goes to live with the other. Apparently one is down on his luck and the other is not so down on his luck.
Haim’s the down on his luck one – Feldman is still making such gems as “Puppetmaster vs. Demonic Toys”
Yesterday I watched 12 Monkeys when I was sick, but I don’t know if I’d put in the same category as Mannequin.
I love that I hate Starship.
I also love this entry.
I am an UNENDING fan of Grease (the original). Also, I watched a lot of Aladdin.
Ooooh. Aladdin was always good. For some reason I’m a little more partial to something like Beauty and the Beast or Mulan or Hercules.
I watch cartoon network and Doctor Who when I am sick, and even when I am feeling like a million bucks:)
I just watched the first hour of Aladdin this weekend! Best Disney movie ever.

“If you really want to know
What I want in a guy…
Well, I’m lookin’ for a dream on a mean machine
With hell in his eyes.
I want a devil in skin tight leather,
And he’s gonna be wild as the wind.
And one fine night, I’ll be holdin’ on tight…
To a coooool rider, a coooool rider.
If he’s cool enough,
He can burn me through and through.
Whhoa ohhhh
If it takes forever,
Then I’ll wait forever.
No ordinary boy,
No ordinary boy is gonna do.
I want a rider that’s cool…”
oh and who can forget…
“Reproduction, reproduction!
Put your pollen tube to work.
Reproduction, reproduction!
Make my stamen go berserk.
Reproduction!
I don’t think they even know what a pistil is!
I got your pistil right here…ARNIE!
Where does the pollen go?”
hahaha. love ya! 😉
Jenna!! The reproduction song was one of the cut out scenes in my copy…but I used to know the first one by heart!! I want a coooooool rider, I want a cool cool cool cool rider!
